A little meme from Monday Madness. All about hobbies!

1. How many hobbies do you have?

Honestly? Quite a few.

2. Name at least one of your hobbies.

Knitting. Knitting’s my newest hobby, I suppose, though it’s over a year old. But it’s really only been in the last…. 8 months or so that it’s grown into an obsession. Granted, my obsessiveness comes in waves - I’ve taken the last three or so months off from knitting after a wild spree that lasted…. 2-3 months or so. All my hobbies go in phases like that.

3. What do you like about your hobby?

I like the material (yarn). Like? Hell, I love yarn. It’s eye-candy, textural crack. I love touching it, looking at it. Even if I wasn’t a knitter, I’d maybe be yarn collector. *laugh* I also like the finished product. Sometimes. Actually, that’s a lie - I usually hate darn near every single thing I knit. And I don’t know why. I thought I hated one scarf, the bamboo Branching Out from Knitty. So I sold it before it was finished. Then I realized, when it was done, that I actually loved it. But it was too late…

4. What keeps you from spending more time on any one of your hobbies?

My obsessions. And money. And the fact that I’m kinda lazy sometimes. Yes, I am! And once in a while, I stop doing something in a hobby because I got discouraged over a mistake.

5. Do you have any hobbies that you haven’t taken up yet, but would like to?

Crochet. Someday, someday… Polymer Clay sculpting. Collecting various items, like all of the Amy Brown figurines. And prints. *drool* Baking. I like to bake, but not enough that it’s a hobby yet. I don’t have a decent mixer, for one. And I’m lazy. Hahah. Jewelry-making is something I’d like to start on. You know, beading… God yes. Mostly craftsy stuff, but there’s a billion things I want to do.

6. Have you ever decided to give up a hobby? If so, why?

I haven’t given up a hobby, necessarily, but I have stopped participating for great periods of time. Like photography. I love photography, but it’s so danged expensive. And now I can’t process my own film or prints. So I’d like to do digital photography, but my camera sucks the hind tit. It doesn’t even have zoom. Not even a little bit. I’m saving up for an Olympus with hopes that I can actually begin my photography hobby again.
