I’m stressed, and I don’t know why. Yes, my life’s been hectic lately, but I’m unusually stressed out, and headachy, and tired. I need a vacation. And actually, I’m on one right now. It’s 2:44 pm, and for the third day… er… 4th day in a row, I’ve been awake during the daylight hours. It’s wrecking havoc on my internal clock, but I’m enjoying it. It’s… different.

I’m hoping to go to Billings this weekend. But since it’s slushy and snowy and all that crap, I’m not sure the trip will be doable. Which really won’t make me happy. I’ve been plotting this for ages. And ages and ages. I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that all will turn out well - the sun will shine, dry up all the snow, and life will go on happily. We’ll see, though. This is Montana, after all.

It’s Ostara today, and I’m happy for it, but it just doesn’t feel like spring, no matter what the calendar says. I’ve been intending to spring clean this week, but it’s hard to get in the spring cleaning mood when you look outside at the wet, slushy snow, you know? I don’t even wanna take my garbage out. Go figure. But I did clean the kitchen yesterday. It’s a mess again, go figure. But I even mopped the floors! Go me! And today, I boiled some eggs. I’ll dye them later, I think, and go hunt down something to put them in to give away to family & friends.

Today begins my 101 things in 1001 Days project. Check it out if you haven’t already. I’m also nearly finished with my new planner. Just need to skip on down to the cop shop tonight to use the adjustable 3-hole punch. I did a half-size planner this time, instead of full letter-size, and my cheap punch isn’t adjustable. And I’ll be damned if I punch all these holes one at a time. *lol*

Anyway. Off to get stuff done!

A little meme from Monday Madness. All about hobbies!

1. How many hobbies do you have?

Honestly? Quite a few.

2. Name at least one of your hobbies.

Knitting. Knitting’s my newest hobby, I suppose, though it’s over a year old. But it’s really only been in the last…. 8 months or so that it’s grown into an obsession. Granted, my obsessiveness comes in waves - I’ve taken the last three or so months off from knitting after a wild spree that lasted…. 2-3 months or so. All my hobbies go in phases like that.

3. What do you like about your hobby?

I like the material (yarn). Like? Hell, I love yarn. It’s eye-candy, textural crack. I love touching it, looking at it. Even if I wasn’t a knitter, I’d maybe be yarn collector. *laugh* I also like the finished product. Sometimes. Actually, that’s a lie - I usually hate darn near every single thing I knit. And I don’t know why. I thought I hated one scarf, the bamboo Branching Out from Knitty. So I sold it before it was finished. Then I realized, when it was done, that I actually loved it. But it was too late…

4. What keeps you from spending more time on any one of your hobbies?

My obsessions. And money. And the fact that I’m kinda lazy sometimes. Yes, I am! And once in a while, I stop doing something in a hobby because I got discouraged over a mistake.

5. Do you have any hobbies that you haven’t taken up yet, but would like to?

Crochet. Someday, someday… Polymer Clay sculpting. Collecting various items, like all of the Amy Brown figurines. And prints. *drool* Baking. I like to bake, but not enough that it’s a hobby yet. I don’t have a decent mixer, for one. And I’m lazy. Hahah. Jewelry-making is something I’d like to start on. You know, beading… God yes. Mostly craftsy stuff, but there’s a billion things I want to do.

6. Have you ever decided to give up a hobby? If so, why?

I haven’t given up a hobby, necessarily, but I have stopped participating for great periods of time. Like photography. I love photography, but it’s so danged expensive. And now I can’t process my own film or prints. So I’d like to do digital photography, but my camera sucks the hind tit. It doesn’t even have zoom. Not even a little bit. I’m saving up for an Olympus with hopes that I can actually begin my photography hobby again.

Okay, so here’s my funky Dr. Seuss-ish mitten. It’s all pointy and bizarre. The thumb is completely Grinch-like. I’m honestly not sure if I like the bloody thing or not, but I guess I’ll start on mitten #2. Why not? I can always, uh, find something to do with them, I suppose.

So there she be. The finished pointy mitten! The pattern is found in Holiday Knits where it doesn’t look quite so weird or pointy. Or striped. Because actually… the stripes were my silly idea. Yep. Leave it to me to destroy a good pattern! Ah well. Let me know whatcha think.

I’ve thought a lot about blogging lately. I’ve wanted to blog a lot of various things - mostly things with pictures, and the lack of pictures (where is my camera, anyway?) has turned into a lack of blogging. Really, it hasn’t been all that long, but long enough. I’ve been knitting in the last few days. I stopped with the sock I’ve learned to despise, and cast on and knit one… rather bizarre looking sock. Pics soon, I promise. It’s the most eautiful colors, but it turns out, I don’t really like my stripes. And more, I don’t really like the pattern. I mean, it fits. Wonderfully. But it looks like something out of Dr. Seuss - all pointy and pixie-ish. I dunno. Maybe it’ll grow on me. It’s nice and warm, though, knit with Paton’s Classic Merino Wool, and soft, too.

I’ll knit a second one, anyway, and have plenty plenty plenty of yarn leftover to do something else. Maybe new gloves, with just one color. *laugh* Or maybe a weird, pointy hat to go with the weird, pointy gloves. I dunno. We’ll see.

In other knitting news, I’ve also cast on and completed 12″ of the back of my sweatercoat. It’s from the Sept-Oct issue of Cast On, and it’s called Campus Coat. It’s supposed to be knit in Red Heart Light and Lofty, but Homespun’s so much nicer, and squishier, and I’m using it, in this pretty buff camel color. Ought to be gorgeous when I’m through. Then again, I always think that, until I’ve got something finished, and then I hate it. So who knows?
